On August 13th, the mid-term seminar of the 2021 Jiangsu Province Agricultural Science and Technology Independent Innovation Fund Major Core Technology Innovation Project "Key Technology Research and Development of Facility Tomato Efficient Intelligent Picking Robot" jointly undertaken by China Su Technology Co., Ltd., Jiangsu University, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Nanjing Institute of Engineering was held in Jiangning.

Song Chengfa, Chairman of Zhongsu Technology, and Yan Xiaohong, President of Jiangsu University, attended the seminar. Yan Aizhong, Vice President of Zhongsu Technology; Professors Yang Qizhi, Hua Xijun, Wang Quan, and Shi Qin from Jiangsu University, and Associate Professors Zhang Ping and Zou Rong; Associate Professor Pi Jie from Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Associate professors Guo Tiezheng and Yang Wenliang from Nanjing University of Engineering attended the meeting.

The project of automated picking of facility tomatoes focuses on breaking through the challenges of target recognition, positioning, autonomous navigation, obstacle avoidance planning and control technology for picking robots. It integrates agricultural machinery and agronomy, studies facility tomato cultivation technology and structural forms suitable for robot picking, and explores key technologies such as autonomous recognition and positioning of target fruits by facility tomato picking robots in unstructured environments, multi-sensor information fusion navigation positioning and obstacle avoidance planning, mobile mechanism and end effector of picking robots. The goal is to develop efficient and intelligent picking robots for facility tomatoes, achieve intelligent and non-destructive picking operations for tomato fruits, and lay a technical foundation for intelligent harvesting equipment to truly enter the agricultural vegetable production and harvesting environment, which has important application value.
